On the afternoon of November 18, Cyril Gavaghan, senior lecturer of the International Department of Institute of Technology Tralee, Ireland, and Xue Xinlan, the project leader of the Chinese representative office of the school, visited our school.Tang Xin, Director ofthe International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Song Weihai, Director of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering expressed a warm welcome to Mr. Cyril and his party. The relevant staff of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering attended the meeting.

The meeting was held in the conference room on the third floor of the training building of the Jibei campus. At the meeting, Professor Tang Xin first warmly welcomed Mr. Cyril from afar, and then introduced the basic situation of our school in terms of historical evolution, campus construction, teaching staff, and teaching conditions, and shared our school the the achievements of international exchanges and cooperation models of our university in recent years,which Mr. Cyril highly praised and recognized of. Mr. Cyril also introduced the basic situation of Institute of Technology Tralee, Ireland. From the initial establishment of Institute of Technology Tralee, there was only a single discipline of agriculture, and it gradually expanded toa publicuniversity ofhigher learning, including multi-disciplinary integration of agriculture, engineering, business and other developments, covering undergraduate, master and doctor degrees. He also said that Institute of Technology Tralee is the most famous agricultural engineeringu niversity in Ireland, which has the same featured majors and disciplines as our school. After the previous matching of the courses,the two universities have a high degree of matching in the fields of electrical automation and computer applications, which provides an opportunity for the two universities to develop in-depth cooperation. In the end, Song Weihai, the dean of the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, introduced the situation of the School, and communicated the development goals and training models of the“International Electrical Automation Bachelor Project”, and the atmosphere of the talk between the two parties was warm and harmonious.

After the meeting, a lecture was held for the Project, and more than 100 students from the Electrical and Automation Department of the School of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering attended the lecture. Mr. Cyril gave a brief introduction to the entry requirements, accommodation environment, campus activities and other contents of Institute of Technology Tralee. The students showed great interests.

Institute of Technology Tralee was founded in 1977 and is one of Ireland's 14 polytechnics. It includes three colleges covering agriculture, biology and pharmaceuticals, business and management, architecture, creative media, engineering, environment, food, culinary arts,information science, computer technology and many other disciplines.
