On the afternoon of April 12, Prof. Wu Zhifu, vice president of the DaTung University in Taiwan, Dean of the School of Design, and Professor Lin Kaijie from the Department of Industrial Design visited our university. Vice President Zhang Zhaoming attended the meeting. The other relevant directors of the School of International Exchange and Cooperation and the School of Arts also attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Vice President Zhang Zhaoming expressed his warm welcome to Vice President Wu Zhifu and his colleague, and made a comprehensive introduction to our school from the aspects of school development history and characteristics. He said that the university is currently closely following the Party's 19th National Congress report on the strategy for rejuvenating villages, opening wider to the outside world, and actively seeking multi-level cooperation among schools. Taiwan has its unique advantages in such fields as precision agriculture. DaTung University is an applied-type undergraduate college and has the same features as ours. Both sides should strive to explore diversified cooperation methods around the school's characteristics and seek greater space for cooperation. Vice President Wu Zhifu introduced the general situation of DaTung University in Taiwan from the aspects of faculty resources, professional settings, and education support. His focus is on the current status of the internationalization of art and design talents and the cooperation model between DaTung University and the mainland schools, and looks forward to cooperating with our school in the field of talent training on art design. The two sides agreed that we have the same goal in the training of applied talents and hope that this visit can be an active implementation of the friendly cooperation agreement between the two parties.
Vice President Wu Zhifu also conducted extensive exchanges with the School of Arts on the construction of art and design majors, students, and teachers, and reached preliminary cooperation intentions.
After the meeting, Vice President Wu Zhifu gave a lecture on the topic of “Design Education Status Quo and Design Development Trends” for teachers and students of Visual Communication Design of the School of Arts. From the perspective of social design and service design, he took the social design of students at DaTung University in Taiwan as the starting point, and explained the new trends of current design in the most intuitive way.
Our university has signed a friendly cooperation agreement with DaTung University in Taiwan. Vice President Wu Zhifu and his colleague have made a good start for substantive cooperation between the two universities.
